Bedtime, What Bedtime?

I have been a nightowl for as long as I can remember.  The quiet, still of night gives me time to just be me.

Not a ‘Mum, Mum, Mum’ or ‘Stace ..?’ can be heard.  No demands for my time and the silence is well and truly golden.

However, indulging in too much of this quiet time is actually not beneficial.  Too much of a good thing and it cuts into that much needed sleep.

A little while ago, I set myself a bedtime.  By 10:30pm I would have shut down the computer and if I still was not tired, I would indulge in a little late night DIY television and half an hour later my eyes would grow weary and sleep would not be far off.

It did not result in a raring-to-go Mumma in the morning as I had intended (it seems I am just not a morning person regardless of hours slept!) but it did mean I was less sluggish and more productive throughout the day.

Call it self-sabotage (things were going soooo well) or blame it on the rescheduling of late-night DIY television (they are no longer showing anything of interest at that time) but this week, I have broken my bedtime curfew every night!

At first, it made for a lot getting ticked off that ‘get on with it’ list (which means I should have a lot more to share with you very soon!) but as the week wore on, the sluggishness set in and I was actually overtired but not quick to go to sleep.

The days dragged on and yet, at bedtime I was feeling funnily refreshed – not ready for sleep at all!  Sounds all too familiar ‘sigh’, I’ve been there before.

It’s time to reassess this whole bedtime thing and say goodbye to the nightowl once and for all!  One can not continue on a small amount of sleep for very long, not if one wants to actually get stuff done!

So that was my week, how was yours?  Do you have problems getting to bed at a decent time?  Does sleep come easy for you?  What kind of things do you do in your bedtime/wind-down routine?
