TEAM Friday: Energy Needed STAT!

Posted on

After last week’s TEAM Friday post, someone unliked my Facebook page.   Sure, it could have been coincidence.  It could have been that they just realised that Get On With IT Already was not the blog they thought it was.  Note – my numbers don’t mean so much as the amount of interaction I have but I do notice the numbers and get excited when a person chooses to ‘like’ my page.

Their exit made me think.  Could they have taken my post the wrong way?  They may have mistook my want to exercise as unhappiness with my current body.  This is not the case so much as it is the energy side of things, although a slightly lifted bottom would be nice, after yesterday’s shopping trip and still no coloured jeans for me (skinny jeans just do not fit my shape), anyone seen some bootcut ones?

So one would think that with all this talk about exercise and my post, I would have strapped those running shoes and just got on with it!  Well, um, no.  It didn’t happen.

My lack of energy stopped me and it’s almost funny considering that exercise will bring me more energy … it’s a vicious circle if your not on it.

No exercise = low/no energy
More exercise = more/high energy

See what I mean?  I could give you all the excuses under the sun, like it’s Winter and Long Pants Wearing Season i.e. unshaven legs for longer periods .. please tell me I am not the only one?  and I just don’t have any exercising ‘long’ pants .. well no excuse really holds up (but I did buy some yesterday).

I have had a huge slump in energy levels which I attribute to the lack of exercise.  But it’s not just physical, it affects mental energies as well.

Did you know that physical activity releases endorphins?  The happy chemicals in your brain therefore exercise is good both physically and mentally?

I am going to shift focus from ‘but I really must get this and this done instead’ to ‘remember how good you feel afterwards?’ and ‘you’ll actually achieve more after exercising’, let’s see if that works!

I have also managed to sort my ‘to do’ list, details on the blog soon :)

What have you done to increase either/both physical and mental energies lately?

Share what you have been doing to motivate and energize this week

*exercise/running/playing sport
*cooking/eating healthy recipes
*ticking off another project off the ‘to do’ list and how
*sewing/crafting/gardening/diy-ing/organising

ANYTHING that you do that fills up your soul, nurtures your body and mind, adds excitement to your life.

Please grab a button (copy and paste [in HTML mode] the bottom code) and add to your post, this will link back to all TEAM Friday posts :)

Well I just read last week’s post and am not sure why that would make anyone “unlike” your FB page, but people can be funny I guess. It’s sad that people felt the need/permission to tell you you looked awful! Have they not learned any tact? I’m sure it just came from concern, but still…I think once you start exercising and it becomes a habit it’s easy to become addicted to it. I have been doing 1 training session a week for a couple of months now and am trying to figure out a schedule that allows me to add a second session. I’m also trying to run 2x a week (was doing really well with this but had minor surgery and it’s taking longer to get back into it) and play tennis 2x a week. It does give you more energy, but is exhausting at the same time. I don’t remember the last time I had a problem falling asleep at night! I think some people either feel guilty or jealous when they see others succeeding with exercise, because it takes great commitment and perseverance, and perhaps it makes them feel weak? I don’t know, either way, I say go for it! Get back into it! Only good can come from exercising, if only more people realised the many benefits of it!

  3. It is difficult to get exercising, sometimes its easier to just give it a miss. BUT I do feel better once I have finished….. just did a circuit at the gym this morning, I have been disappointed with the results so far but need to make changes in my diet as well ! Maybe the dislike was just clearing out their facebook page of the many posts they had subscribed to and getting rid of their clutter??.

    • Hi Michelle, I really should not have taken to heart the ‘unlike’ but it did get me thinking, too much. It is the better after that I need to feel to want to exercise more, oh the irony! Even small changes in your diet should see the results you are after, it is a combination of both diet and exercise to lose kilos. Best of luck!

  4. Oh, I haven’t done much moving this week but haven’t been feeling well at all. Not really sick like my boys but unwell. I hope the movement will come back, may have to force myself!

Did get up for 30 mins with the PT ay 6.30am this morning and that was good, I’d paid for it so too mean not to go!!

Could B at BBeingCool help with getting the linky to look like hers did???

    • Hi Seana, hope you are feeling 100% soon. Well done on going to the PT session, pre-paying for your session was a great motivater ;) I am using the program that B Being Cool used but her site is a self hosted one whereas mine is a wordpress hosted site, I have googled and spent way too much time in my search to find an alternative, was hoping someone else had the answer, oh well … I’ll keep searching, thanks.

  5. Well I bought some flash new running shoes this week. My ankles are still quite sore from my new running program but the girl at Rebel sport said that the cheaper shoes I was wearing definitely did not have enough support. So I am having a few rest days and will start again on Sunday or Monday with a light session to see if I can crack this running thing! I really would like to help my eating plan aka weight watchers program, get revved up and lose these last 7 kgs. Watching all those gorgeous Olympic athletes is really motivating me to get on with it. And it’s nice to see that no matter what shape they are, fitness suits every body type!

    • Hello Wendy, YAY for new flash shoes!! I hope they give you the support you need. If a set program is going to help with the diet side of things, I say go for it! Oh yes, gorgeous bodies of olympians of all sizes is great motivation! Sunday is THE day for me, going to get on my flash shoes and get on with this exercise thing!! Have a good week :D

  6. I know I said this before but I’m so bad with exercising… How can I get into it? Meanwhile, what gives me positive energy is crafts and DIY things.

  7. I notice that I have more energy when I exercise. Since running the GC 10km I have been very slack with my exercise but have committed to get back into it when we get back towards the end of August. We have entered The Stampede in Brisbane on 8th September so I am going to have to get my fitness levels up again pretty quickly !!!
Have a great weekend and thank you for hosting Team Friday.
