I had the kids crayons, pencils, etc all in a box like this:
They would tip them out to find what one they wanted/needed and lose them all over the house. It drove me INSANE!
I needed to find a way to store them in a more accessible way.
I loved the idea of the the craft caddy below, just didn’t love the price.
In my recent declutter efforts, I managed to find a Lazy Susan in my very own cupboard, score!
This was an unused gift gathering dust in the back of the cupboard, so I listed the ceramic bowls on a facebook online garage sale and they sold within a day! That’s $8 in my pocket, thank you.
I found 5 small tins in my favourite colour, matching all new decor in this house, at $2 each.
Put it altogether. Voila!
That’s a pretty new pencil caddy for the total out of pocket cost of $2!
One of the tins includes erasers and sharpeners that you can’t see in this picture. I had to hunt around the house to find the rest of the crayons.
I am happy to say that the kidlets are now more than happy to put away their pencils, crayons, etc after use and that makes this project a SUCCESS!
You will note no felt pens or markers as this is for my 7 and 4 year old children (and they have been banned from them), my nearly 11 year old has his own stash of colouring utensils and organises them in a pencil case of his very own.
The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree with the organisation gene here! Neat and orderly, for sure.

oooh! What a great idea Stace! I have a lazy susan thingy just like that!
Off to buy some tin buckets now? : D
